University of the Aegean issues Verifiable Credentials that can be used to simplify and improve the security and privacy of the authentication and identification when accessing online and offline services, inside and outside the campus. Verifiable (digital) Credentials can provide a close experience to paper credentials, and replace the plain-old model of memorizing passwords, while offering additional benefits, the most important being privacy-preserving and temper-evident.

Verifiable Credentials challenge the traditional model of federated identity management by providing the possibility of issuing Verifiable Credentials once, and use them many times, to easily authenticate to different web sites and services. UAegean uses the SEAL project platform to issue and support the consumption of UAegean Verifiable Credentials. banded as UAegean myIDs.
